The Business OpsCenter 3.8.2

213 - Invalid database file

Top  Previous  Next
Cause
oThis occurs when there is an error or data corruption in the database file.

Resolution
oThere are a couple options to resolving this.  If you have a backup procedure in place which automatically made a backup copy of the database file before the data corruption, this this backup copy can be restored.  Although this will fix the problem, any data entered into OpsCenter after the backup was made will be lost.  A second option to resolving this error is to use a special program provided by Microsoft which can repair the database file.  The instructions below show how to get and use this repair utility:

Repairing an OpsCenter database currently requires a separate program that is provided by Microsoft.  This program can be downloaded at:

http://audama.com/downloads/misc/JetCU40.exe

or from the Microsoft site at:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;273956

Run the program and it will extract a couple files to a folder of your choosing.  Run the "jetcomp.exe" program.  Select the opscenter database ("opscenter.dat") as the source and some other temporary file as the destination.  (The program will want the destination file to be one that already exists but if you type in the path and file name manually, it won't check whether it already exists.)  The only option that should be selected is Destination is 4.x database format.  This will transfer all the data into a new repaired database file.  Lastly, rename this file back to the original database ("opscenter.dat").

This procedure can only be done when no users are connected to the database so make sure all users have OpsCenter closed.  Also, you may want to make a temporary backup of the original database file in case of the unlikely event that something goes wrong during the repair or compaction procedure.

If you do not want to perform the repair yourself, send the database file to Audama Software Support and we will repair the file and send it back.
