The Business OpsCenter 3.8.2

Received messages aren't popping up.  Why not?

Top  Previous  Next

There are a couple reasons why a received message doesn't pop up.  They include:

You pop up rules in the Preferences are set to not pop up in certain situations.  Check these settings as well as your current status and see if the rules should be allowing messages to pop up.  The message will should still appear in the Communication Manager.
The computer sending or receiving the message has a system clock which is set incorrectly.  OpsCenter will not pop up messages that have a sent date/time which is too far off of the current date/time.  For example, if a computer that sent a message has a system clock set an hour to slow, then the received message will appear to be too "old" to pop up.  The message will should still appear in the Communication Manager.  Make sure all computers running OpsCenter are set to the correct time.
The computer sending or receiving the message has a software firewall installed and is blocking OpsCenter from communicating directly with other computers.  Although the message itself is sent through the database, OpsCenter will send notifications directly to other computers so the message can be retrieved immediately.  If a firewall is blocking OpsCenter, then the notification can't be sent or received and messages will only be retrieved during the normal refresh cycle.  This will delay the message retrieval which could make the message too "old" to pop up.  Make sure any software firewall is allowing OpsCenter to send and receive notifications over the network.  You can also reduce the refresh time in the Preferences to minimize the effect of missed notifications.
