OpsCenter Installation & Setup:

OpsCenter Configuration & Administration:

Using OpsCenter:

About OpsCenter:

  • 1) How much do the OpsCenter updates cost?
  • All OpsCenter updates within the 2.x.x version are free.

  • 2) How often are OpsCenter updates released?
  • There is no regular schedule for releasing OpsCenter updates. There is usually an average of one update per month.

  • 3) Can I purchase a single user license?
  • 15-User and 1-User license options, are available in the 2.0.5 release of OpsCenter. The single user license can be purchased in addition to another license bundle to get any desired user count. For example, purchasing a 5-User license and a 1-User license will give you 6 registered users. All computers will need to be running at least version 2.0.5 in order to use the 15 and 1 user licenses.

OpsCenter Installation & Setup:

  • 1) Error when creating database: "The database could not be created."
  • Verify the destination folder exists and the user has full read/write permissions on it. If you are using OpsCenter version 2.0.2 or earlier, upgrade to version 2.0.3 or newer. OpsCenter 2.0.3 fixes a dll problem that can cause this error on some computers.

  • 2) Error when connecting client to existing OpsCenter database during profile setup: "The selected file is not a valid OpsCenter database."
  • This error does appear occured on rare occassions even when the selected file is a valid database. Try reinstalling the OpsCenter client on the affected computer and try again. This should correct the problem and there shouldn't be any future connection issues.

  • 3) I can not select any fields or enter any data in the Database Wizard or Add User Wizard.
  • Some computers running Windows NT 4.0 may experience a problem where the Database Wizard and Add User Wizard are not given focus when they appear on the screen. A simple workaround for this problem is to press alt-tab and switch focus to another application or folder. Then press alt-tab again to switch back to OpsCenter. The wizards should then work fine. We are working on a permanent fix. The wizards are only used in the initial OpsCenter network setup so this shouldn't be encountered on subsequent client installations or setups.

  • 4) The Add User Wizard disappears before I finish entering data.
  • In OpsCenter versions older than 2.0.6, the wizard will disappear after a short amount of time. This problem has been fixed in OpsCenter version 2.0.6. There is no workaround in older versions other than restarting OpsCenter and entering the data before the wizard disappears.

OpsCenter Configuration & Administration:

  • 1) How do I delete a profile on a computer?
  • The profile for a computer is stored in an .ini file. By default, this file is called opscenter.ini and is stored in the OpsCenter program folder. Simply delete this file and OpsCenter will run the profile setup the next time it starts. The file name and location is also listed in the preferences window.

Using OpsCenter:

  • 1) Can I set a custom status other than "IN", "OUT", "DND", or "VACA"?
  • Custom statuses can be defined using the Status Alias feature introduced in OpsCenter version 2.0.4.

  • 2) Dates are not showing up correctly in various places throughout OpsCenter.
  • Early versions of OpsCenter where dependant on computer regional settings having date formats set to "mm/dd/yyyy". Recent updates have made considerable improvements to supporting other regional date formats. Make sure you are using the most current version of OpsCenter.

  • 3) Can notes and phone messages be printed?
  • Printing functionality has been introduced in OpsCenter version 2.1.0. Notes, phone messages, vacation requests, and individual vacation schedule entries can be printed by selecting the print option in there respective windows or selecting print in the My Messages or Vacation Manager windows.

  • 4) How do I access the printer options when printing?
  • In the My Messages or Vacation Manager window, right click on the item you wish to print and select "Print Setup". The standard print dialogue window will be displayed.
